TEHRAN (RIPI) -- The Research Institute of Petroleum Industry has launched a research institute on natural gas processing in cooperation with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC). Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the center, Head of the RIPI Downstream Faculty and the Gas Processing Institute Akbar Zamanian said, the establishment of specialized institutes in universities and research centers in the downstream sector of the oil industry has been on the agenda of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum for the past two years. “The National Iranian Gas Company has signed three research contracts in this regard, and the Gas Processing Institute has been inaugurated as stipulated in one of the contracts,” he said, adding that new technologies regarding natural gas processing will be introduced by the center in the coming years. He said the center has been launched based on an agreement between NIGC and RIPI, and added that by inauguration of the institute, the first phase of the five-year deal has been materialized. Zamanian stated: The Gas Processing Institute has been launched based on a comprehensive research roadmap, and one of its goals is to reduce environmental pollutants by reducing flared gas. Dr. Zamanian further pointed out other important achievements of the RIPI downstream faculty, saying that production of Parsisol Solvent is one of the faculty’s main achievements that has been made possible in the past two years at Masjed Soleiman Refinery. The solvent has also been adopted in Ilam Refinery, he added.
