RIPI ready to test solar equipment: CEO
Pointing to the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry’s testing of solar water heaters and thermal collectors for the purpose of using renewable energies, head of the RIPI, Dr. Hamidreza Katouzian, in the unveiling ceremony of RIPI’s first lab for testing solar equipment on Sunday, June 5, 2016, said, “Solar collectors and water heaters have been worked and experimented on in Iran for years”.
“Infrared radiation, in this process, turns into thermal energy by way of a collector, which causes the inside water to heat up; and consequently this method can be used for water heaters”, Katouzian pointed out on performance of these equipment.
The first lab for testing solar equipment is the harvest of several years of RIPI- as well as other departments- experts’ endeavors, and it is hoped that the lab would keep working at national level and offer services to the manufacturers of such equipment as a standard reference center.
Pointing out that, on average, there are 280 sunny days per year in our country, this senior official at the RIPI went on to say that, “We have taken important steps towards putting solar energy into use and the RIPI is also ready to carry out qualitative and performance tests on solar collectors and water heaters”.
