RIPI No.1 in Iran Patent Race
TEHRAN Dec. 15 (RIPI) -- Iran Patent Office (IPO) has announced that Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI), the research arm of Iran's Ministry of Petroleum, ranks first among 41 Iranian institutions and research centers for patenting 23 inventions in American and European patent and trademark offices.
Questel Orbit recently announced that Iranian institutions took out as many as 105 patents in internationally renowned patent offices by August 22, 2015, said a report by IPO.
Among the patented inventions, 87 are owned by one institution and 18 others are shared by more than one institution and RIPI tops the list of Iranian institutions for the number of the patents it has won alone; it owns 22 of its patents alone and shares another one with an Iranian university.
Questel was created in 1978 as a subsidiary of Orange S.A., formerly France Télécom S.A.. In 2001, it spun off from France Telecom and focused exclusively on intellectual property.
